Pope News Blog to Give Round-the-clock Conclave Updates

Following the Pope's eventual death, the world's Catholic cardinals will be summoned to Rome to participate in the papal election process known as conclave. The Pope Blog has announced that it will cover the conclave, giving updates around the clock on the Papal election.

(PRWEB) April 2, 2005 -- Following news of the Pope's failing health, The Pope News Blog announced today that it will be providing coverage of the next conclave.

The blog's two main authors, Andy Hagans and Jimmy Atkinson, have pledged that the site will act as a clearinghouse for news reports from the Conclave. The blog will also offer insightful commentary and analysis on conclave-related matters.

Pope John Paul II, the 264th Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church, has been experiencing severe health problems for the last several weeks. He was twice rushed to the hospital after experiencing breathing difficulty and fever in February. During his second visit to the hospital, he underwent a tracheotomy to insert a breathing tube into his throat.

After the death of the Pope, all Catholic Cardinals will go to Rome to participate in the Papal election process known as a conclave. The word "conclave" is derived from the Latin phrase "cum clavi" ("with a key") because the election process is secretive and occurs behind the closed doors of the Sistine Chapel. Only members of the College of Cardinals are allowed to enter during the election process. The Conclave is conducted without any interference from the media.
